What each preset actually does
Trap & hip-hop mastering: 808s, sub and punch
Trap mastering has its own rules: the 808 and sub-bass carry the track, hi-hats must stay crisp, and the kick has to punch through. Our Hip-Hop/Trap preset was calibrated by active trap producers to meet exactly these constraints: a solid low-end that supports the 808 without getting muddy, transients that hit hard, and a competitive density that holds up against current releases on Spotify and YouTube.
