Licences & rights
What is a beat licence?
+
A licence is a contract that authorizes you to use a beat for your music projects: recordings, streaming, music videos, live performances. NKSounds offers two types of licences: the Standard licence and the Exclusive licence. Each one defines exactly what you can do with the beat. The PDF contract is automatically sent to you along with your files after purchase.
What’s the difference between the Standard and Exclusive licence?
+
The Standard licence is non-exclusive: the beat remains available to other artists. You get unlimited streams on all platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube…), 1 music video and up to 1,000 physical copies. You receive the MP3 + WAV files, and the « Prod. NKSounds » credit is required. Two options can be added to the Standard: stems (individual tracks, +20€) and extended rights (radio, TV, sync, live, concerts, festivals, +50€).
The Exclusive licence gives you full unrestricted rights: unlimited streams, unlimited sales, music videos, radio, TV, sync, live performances and concerts. It includes stems and extended rights by default. The beat is removed from the catalog and reserved for your project only. Credit is not required but appreciated.
Upgrading from Standard to Exclusive is possible at any time — your Standard price is deducted from the Exclusive price.

Do I have to credit NKSounds?
+
With the Standard licence, the « Prod. NKSounds » credit is required (cover art, YouTube description, streaming platforms).
With the Exclusive licence, credit is not required but always appreciated.
With the Exclusive licence, credit is not required but always appreciated.
What happens if someone buys the Exclusive of a beat I have in Standard?
+
You keep the right to use the beat under the terms of your Standard contract. Your licence remains valid, no issue on this side.
What is commercial use?
+
If the use of one of our beats is part of a process where you earn money (Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, etc.), it’s considered commercial use. The Standard licence covers all uses on streaming platforms. For radio, TV, sync, live performances, concerts or festivals, you need to add the Extended rights option (+50€) to your Standard, or go with the Exclusive licence which includes everything by default.
Files & delivery
How does delivery work after purchase?
+
Your files (MP3, WAV, and stems if you chose the Exclusive licence or added the Stems option to your Standard) along with your PDF licence contract are sent automatically by email after payment confirmation, usually within minutes (up to 48 hours maximum). Don’t forget to check your spam folder.
What’s the difference between an MP3 and a WAV file?
+
MP3 is a compressed file, suitable for everyday listening but not for studio work. WAV is an uncompressed maximum-quality file, essential for recording and professional mastering. Both formats are included with all our licences.
What are stems (individual tracks)?
+
Stems are the different layers of the beat exported separately: bass, melodies, percussion, hi-hats, effects, etc. They allow you to modify the mix, adjust volumes, or hand the mixing over to the sound engineer of your choice. They are included by default in the Exclusive licence, and available as an option (+20€) on the Standard licence.
Why do I hear « Purchase your track today » on the beats?
+
It’s a voice tag, used as protection to prevent unauthorized use of our beats. It is systematically removed from the files delivered to you after purchase.
Purchase & payment
What payment methods do you accept?
+
We accept payments by credit card (via Stripe) and PayPal. Transactions are 100% secure.
What is the 3-for-2 offer?
+
When you add 3 or more beats of the same licence type to your cart, the cheapest one is offered for free. The discount applies separately to Standard and Exclusive licences (no mixing between the two), and includes any options. It is applied automatically at checkout.
Can I get a refund?
+
Since beats are digital products delivered by email, purchases are non-refundable. The files you receive match exactly what you listened to on the website.
Mastering
What is the free mastering offered with every purchase?
+
Every beat purchase includes a free mastering via our online mastering tool. You receive a unique code with your order that you can use on our mastering page to master one of your tracks for free.
